Built in 1964, Mary Health of the Sick was skillfully planned, solidly built, and carefully maintained by the Servants of Mary, Ministers to the Sick. As with any structure, however, after 35 years of use, the building was showing its age. Additionally, fire and safety codes had changed and the building needed to be brought up to code.
A major, 4-year renovation project brought the hospital into compliance with new fire and safety codes, added a new energy-efficient HVAC system, and refurbished the interior of the hospital.
Now, Mary Health is a modern 61-bed skilled nursing facility, on eight acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and a panoramic view of rolling hills, located in Newbury Park, California.
Our rooms are cheerfully decorated and the patients are encouraged to bring in their favorite comforter or pillows to make it feel more like home. The hospital has recently been renovated and upgrades are ongoing. All rooms have TVs with individual pillow speakers as well as telephones.
The Ebensteiner Garden and Courtyard is a peaceful one-acre oasis of trees, flowers, fountains, waterfalls, and Koi ponds was designed to provide a place for residents and their families to enjoy one another, feeling like they are away from the hospital without actually leaving the grounds. More than 300 lovely rose bushes surround a gazebo, with wooden Stations of the Cross encircling the rose bushes. A lovely cobblestone pathway is wheelchair accessible so all may enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the garden.
Mary Health has an on-site beauty salon for residents, staffed two days a week by a licensed beautician, who is truly dedicated to making our residents look and feel their best. Appointments can be made to have hair set, cut, or permed.
Residents, family members, and friends may enjoy a relaxing visit in Mary Health's Resident Nook! This lovely gathering room is furnished with modern, comfortable furniture and a large flat-screen TV,.
